Movement As Medicine
For some people, wellbeing is found in stillness.
For others, it’s found in movement.
The Snowy Mountains are for the latter.
This is a landscape that invites participation. Whether you’re hiking, cycling, skiing, paddling, horse riding or simply exploring on foot, the region encourages visitors to engage with the outdoors in a deeply physical way.
And yet, despite the adventure on offer, there is also a profound sense of calm here.
Perhaps it’s the mountain air.
The vast open spaces.
Or the perspective that comes from standing on a ridgeline and looking out across a landscape that stretches beyond the horizon.

Kosciuszko National Park forms the heart of the region and offers some of Australia’s most rewarding walking experiences.
The walk to Mount Kosciuszko remains one of the country’s great accessible adventures. Unlike many iconic peaks around the world, Australia’s highest mountain can be reached by walkers of varying abilities, rewarding effort with sweeping alpine views.

In warmer months, cycling has become increasingly popular, with mountain bike trails and scenic road rides attracting visitors from across the country.
Horse riding, fly fishing, kayaking and trail running provide additional ways to explore.
Yet one of the region’s most surprising wellness experiences is found in the Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool.
Fed by a natural spring and maintained at around 27 degrees year-round, the pool is surrounded by native bushland and offers a magical place to swim after a morning of exploration.
It’s simple.
It’s beautiful.
And it’s often far less crowded than many of the state’s more famous attractions.
The Snowy Mountains also remind us that recovery is an important part of wellbeing.
After a day spent outdoors, there is immense satisfaction in sitting beside a fire, sharing a meal and allowing tired muscles to rest.
Sometimes wellness is found in slowing down.
Sometimes it’s found in pushing ourselves a little further than we thought we could.
The Snowies offer both.
